چکیده

Interest in myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) by food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutic industries generated the integration of biomasses harvested from wild populations as raw materials with yields cultivated orchards. The domestication process is reviewed considering shoot, fruit, leaf biometric characters selections obtained three steps program. first step started Sardinia (Italy) 1995 analysis germplasm variability. Seventy accessions were object studied population mother plants. Agamic propagation tests, well quality evaluations fruit leaves, integrated into step. In second step, a field comparison forty-two agamically propagated cultivars functional to biomass production food uses was planted evaluated for phenotypic characters. third new twenty open cross-pollination some further selection seedling population. this review, are compared leaves characters, order verify pressure on these traits. Wild showed high variability only partially used during while hybridization may create use genetic improvement myrtle.
